As some of us in colder climates put away our summer garden decor we need to remember our feathered friends who may not have as much to feed on in the colder months. Keep out the bird feeders and continue to replenish bird baths with fresh water. Birds that winter in your area may find less to eat during the fall and winter months when snow may start to cover the ground.
Make this an activity by having an older family member or friend help to keep bird feeders filled with bird seed and water in the bird baths as often as needed. Watch the feeders and bird baths daily for bird activity. Bird watching can be a year round activity. Keep a bird guide on hand to identify unknown birds.
