Starting Seeds Indoors

Does your older family member or friend love to garden but can’t get outdoors because of the cold? Here is an activity that should make him happy.

tomato sprouts

Just start your favorite seeds indoors!

To get started you’ll need:

  • seed starting cells
  • seed starting mix
  • seeds

Have your older family member or friend pour the soil into the cells about ¼ to ½ inch from the top.

Read the directions on the seed packets for information regarding planting depth. Plant seeds then cover with soil. Water and keep moist as directed on seed packets. Place the seed container in a sunny window each day. Watch and wait as the plants sprout.

Once the plants get big enough and the weather warms up in your area, you can plant outdoors.
