Apples, Apples, Apples!
Celebrate apples during National Apple Month (October) or any time of the year, by making favorite and new dishes from apples. Consider apple pie, apple crisp, apple muffins, apple sauce, cooked apples, and many more!
Here is a recipe for a spiced up apple cider…
to make on a cool fall day. You and an older family member or friend can make this in the morning and sip on it during the day. (You may wish to make half the recipe for only a few people or for smaller crock pots) Or make it when you have a bigger family gathering as it does make quite a bit. Enjoy!
Add 1 gallon apple cider and 1/4 cup of brown sugar to a crock pot set to high heat.
Add 2 tsp. whole allspice, 2 tsp. whole cloves, and 4 cinnamon sticks to a tea infuser or tied up in a cheesecloth. Place in crock pot with apple cider.
Cut up an orange into quarters and place on top. Bring to a boil. Turn heat to low and simmer 30 minutes.
Remove the spices and serve. The aroma will be as wonderful as the taste!
