A Pile of Pumpkins Craft
Making A Pile of Pumpkins was one of the more simple and fun crafts I’ve done in a while.
Creating a pile of pumpkins each with their own funny face was quite fun to do with a family member. And the best part is that there is no carving involved!
You can make A Pile of Pumpkins together with a group of seniors, as an intergenerational activity, or one on one. Each person can make their own pile of pumpkins, or each person can contribute their own pumpkin face to form a pile.
Here are the materials you will need to make A Pile of Pumpkins:
- 3 Styrofoam pumpkins purchased from The Dollar Store (these were already painted orange with green stems.
- Pencil
- Black paint and paintbrush or black marker
- Small dowel long enough to go through all pumpkins
- Glue gun and glue stick or tacky glue
Directions:
- Lightly draw faces on all 3 pumpkins using a pencil.
- Fill in the eyes, nose, and mouth with black paint or black marker.
- Arrange the pumpkins in a pile the way you wish them to stack up. I arranged mine off-centered so the pumpkins appear like they’re having fun. I marked the top of the pumpkins with a pencil mark where they would join together.
- Starting with the pumpkin at the bottom, poke the dowel down through it. Slide the second pumpkin on the dowel, and then the top pumpkin. Use your pencil marks as guides.
- You may need to glue the pumpkins together at the points where they join together to make them sturdy. I used a touch of hot glue. Let dry.
- Use your Pile of Pumpkins to decorate your home!
