Halloween Mad Libs

Mad libs are fun little stories where you fill in the blanks.

The fun part is filling in the blanks before you tell the story. It can be surprising and funny.

You can play mad libs one on one or at a gathering.

Halloween Mad Lib #1

First come up with words or phrases to fill in the blanks. Have fun and be goofy if you wish. Don’t peek at the story!

The story

Fill the blanks below with the words or phrases above.

One Halloween night I was (something you do in your house) when there was a (type of knock) on my door. I was (emotion).  I opened the door to find (someone or something) standing there. I stepped outside.

(Someone or something) demanded (type of candy). Now it’s not everyday that a (someone or something) shows up at your door and wants (type of candy) so I tried to be nice about it. I replied that I ran out, but I did have  (leftovers) leftover from dinner. I brought out the (leftovers) and (someone or something) took it and gobbled it down.

I couldn’t believe it!

Just then, my neighbor walked by with his (type of wild animal). He waved and stared.

(Someone or something) finally left after he/she/it licked the bowl clean. I was so (emotion).

The next day, my neighbor asked why I was standing on my porch on Halloween night  feeding (someone or something).

“What else would I do on Halloween night?” I laughed. “Besides, you walk a(n) (neighbors animal)!”

Here is an example of Mad Lib #1:

One Halloween night I was picking my nose when there was a thumping on my door. I was (tickled pink). I opened the door to find a giant ladybug standing there. I stepped outside.

The giant ladybug demanded cracker jacks. Now it’s not everyday that a giant ladybug shows up at your door and wants cracker jacks so I tried to be nice about it. I replied that I ran out, but I did have chili leftover from dinner. I brought out the chili and the giant ladybug took it and gobbled it down.

I couldn’t believe it!

Just then my neighbor walked by with his elephant. He waved and stared.

The giant ladybug finally left after she licked the bowl clean. I was so heartbroken.

The next day, my neighbor asked why I was standing on my porch on Halloween night feeding a giant ladybug.

“What else would I do on Halloween night?” I laughed. “Besides you walk an elephant!”

The Story

Fill in the blanks with the words or phrases above.

I was invited to a Halloween party. I went as a (character/costume).

When I got there I saw (character/costume), (character/costume), and (character/costume).

I thought the three characters were my friends , but I couldn’t really tell. One of them laughed like a (sound).

These three characters, (3 characters) started to dance like a (wild animal). It made me so (emotion).

We played some Halloween games like bobbing for (food). “Me too,” I yelled. “Don’t leave me out!”

We also carved pumpkins and sang (song).

You know I never did find out who (three characters) were. It was probably a good thing, because they left the party driving a (thing). I wouldn’t want to have been seen riding in that!

Here is an example of Mad Lib #2

I was invited to a Halloween party. I went as a (cereal box).

When I got there I saw a (Jack, Jill, and Humpty Dumpty).

I thought the three characters were my friends, but I couldn’t really tell. One of them laughed like a (train whistle).

These three characters (Jack, Jill, and Humpty Dumpty) started to dance like an (octopus). It made me so (jealous).

We played some Halloween games like bobbing for (liver and onions). “Me too!” I yelled. “Don’t leave me out!”

We also carved pumpkins and sang (“Happy Trails”).

I never did find out who (Jack, Jill, and Humpty Dumpty) were. It was probably a good thing, because they left the party driving a (girdle). I wouldn’t want to have been seen riding in that!
