Holiday Gift Guide for Older Loved Ones

Here are some ideas for holiday gifts for the older person in your life.

  • Clothes-consider clothes that are easy to put on, such as shirts or blouses that open to the front. Sweaters are nice this time of year as well as a new coat. Put together an outfit that includes, top, bottom, scarf, etc…
  • Slippers or shoes that are not slick on the bottom. Also make sure slippers and shoes are not open-back as slipping and falling with this can be a problem.
  • Accessories such as purses, hats for women, scarves, gloves, hats for men with logos that mean something to them, wallets, etc…
  • Jewelry such as watches, earrings, and necklaces.
  • Gift cards to restaurants, stores, coffee shops, senior or recreation centers for classes, spas, nail boutiques, etc…
  • New set of dishes-plates, glasses, or silverware.
  • New tablecloth or table runner.
  • New throw blanket for a chair or couch; quilt for a bed; lap blanket for someone in a wheelchair.
  • Tech gifts such as computers, phones, tablets, book readers, etc…
  • Favorite books or subscription for a favorite magazine or newspaper.
  • Favorite music, musical instrument, or a music lessons for an instrument they might like to learn.
  • Food and snacks that are appropriate for their current diet.
  • Small kitchen appliances such as a coffee maker or yogurt maker.
  • Personalized gifts like small boxes or bags with names or meaningful words on them.
  • Christmas ornaments
  • Games such as cards, cribbage, checkers, etc…
